4D Printing of Shape Memory Polymers: From Macro to Micro
نویسندگان
چکیده
A novel and versatile shape memory ink system allowing 4D printing with light at the macroscale as well microscale is presented. Digital processing (DLP) direct laser writing (DLW) are selected suitable 3D technologies to cover both regimes. First, a based on monofunctional isobornyl acrylate two crosslinkers consisting of soft hard diacrylate identified proven be compatible techniques. Employing DLP, large variety structures exhibiting distinct complexity printed. These range from simple frames more demanding geometries such double platform structures, infinity rings, or cubic grids. The effect demonstrated for all geometries. Excellent fixity recovery repeatability shown. Furthermore, formulation adapted fast using DLW. Importantly, printed microstructures display remarkable properties. possibility trapping releasing microobjects, microspheres, ultimately by designing, smart box-like that can thermally actuated—evidencing versatility potential reported system.

Multimaterial 4D Printing with Tailorable Shape Memory Polymers
We present a new 4D printing approach that can create high resolution (up to a few microns), multimaterial shape memory polymer (SMP) architectures. The approach is based on high resolution projection microstereolithography (PμSL) and uses a family of photo-curable methacrylate based copolymer networks. We designed the constituents and compositions to exhibit desired thermomechanical behavior (...
متن کاملMulti-shape active composites by 3D printing of digital shape memory polymers
Recent research using 3D printing to create active structures has added an exciting new dimension to 3D printing technology. After being printed, these active, often composite, materials can change their shape over time; this has been termed as 4D printing. In this paper, we demonstrate the design and manufacture of active composites that can take multiple shapes, depending on the environmental...
متن کاملShape-memory polymers.
Material scientists predict a prominent role in the future for self-repairing and intelligent materials. Throughout the last few years, this concept has found growing interest as a result of the rise of a new class of polymers. These so-called shape-memory polymers by far surpass well-known metallic shape-memory alloys in their shape-memory properties. As a consequence of the relatively easy ma...

Granular anisotropy is attributable to many complex behaviors of granular materials and reflects important microstructures at the grain scale, and should be fully considered towards the development of realistic constitutive models for such materials. In this paper, we present a study on the behavior of anisotropy using a three-dimensional Discrete Element Method (DEM). Isotropic packings of san...
متن کاملDampening General Equilibrium: from Micro to Macro*
We argue that standard modeling practices often overstate the potency of general-equilibrium (GE) mechanisms. We formalize the notion that GE adjustment is weak, or that it takes time, by modifying an elementary Walrasian economy in two alternative manners. In one, we replace Rational Expectations Equilibrium with solution concepts that mimic Tâtonnement or Cobweb dynamics, Level-k Thinking, Re...
